National Lottery Number Generator by Garry Knott
------------------------------------------------
This program is what I would call lotteryware, that is, if you find it
useful or use it much then I would like you to send me a one pound coin
so that I can enter the national lottery myself. There is no obligation
on you to do this whatsoever, but my address is at the end of the file.
Also, if you win the jackpot by using the numbers generated by this
program then I could do with a new set of golf clubs! Otherwise this
program may be copied and spread around etc. All I ask is that you keep
the read me files with the program and do not sell it for financial gain.
Thanks.
Well, why did you write this program
------------------------------------
My local newsagent has just had installed one of these lottery machines
and was telling me all about it while I was trying to buy something or
other. As I'm fairly interested in winning 2 million pounds, I took a
blank card to examine it and see how it works. On the same day there was
an article in a national newspaper explaining how to cut the odds of
winning the jackpot. Well it seems that entirely random numbers are the
answer, and what is better at producing random numbers than a computer ?
Public Domain is a wonderful thing for budding programers like myself, but
there are programs to do everything you can think of so being origional
is the best way to get to the public. This program MUST be the first one
out there to help you win the lottery. Enough said.
Program explanation
-------------------
On booting the program you will be presented with a copy of the national
lottery card. At the moment the card has no numbers crossed off. Click on
the Generate Numbers box to fill in six numbers on each board. Thats it.
You can now copy these off onto your own card or generate some more
numbers if you didn't like the first lot.
Once you have generated some numbers you can get a hard copy by clicking
on the Print numbers box. This is in case you don't have a card and would
like to use these numbers when you next go into your newsagents / post
office etc. You can only print the numbers once you have generated some.
For good printing please run the program from your Workbench with your
correct printer driver installed in prefs.
Once you are finished then click on Exit to return to your Workbench.
Other stuff
----------
This program WILL generate purely random numbers from 1 to 49 for each of
the five boards. You will get six DIFFERENT numbers for each board, but
it is possible for a number to repeat itself from board to board.
ie. board 1 .. 9 15 17 28 33 47
board 2 .. 4 7 33 39 40 48
board 3 .. 11 15 21 22 27 43 etc.
As you can see, the number 15 appears on board 1 and 3. In practice, you
will see this happens often. I origionally programed this utility so
that you would not see two numbers the same across all 5 boards, but then
this is not so random anymore as the final board is choosing six numbers
from only the remaining 25 numbers and not the whole 49. So there you
have it. It is impossible to get the same numbers each time you boot the
program due to the random seed being set to the amount of time that your
computer has been turned on, and it is constantly being changed whilst
the program is running depending on how long you take to click boxes and
some other things too, so other users of this program WILL NOT get the
same numbers as you, I promise.
The rules and conditions of the National Lottery are in the other doc
file.
Enjoy the program and I hope you win something.
